The Fourteenth Amendment is only disputed when regarding the issue of birthright citizenship.
The Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States was ratified as a step toward equal civil rights for Caucasians and freed slaves after the Civil War. It did this by assuring that any person born in the USA was a citizen of the USA. It has been brought up recently when discussing immigration. Should children of illegal immigrants be granted citizenship? |
